My neice is looking for a cheap bass guitar just to play around with and occasionally jam with friends. Guitar is her primary instrument and she’s not looking for anything awesome bass wise, just something solid and a good value. Recommendations? Thanks!

Have a look at the Ibanez Gio GSR100EX or the Gio GSR200TR for something around the $200 mark...which is bordering on "too good to be true" territories. I did briefly play a 200TR in store, and was pretty impressed for the price. Not sure how they would hold up long term though.

The bass guitar isn't one of my primary instruments, but I would probably recommend looking into something from the Squier catalog. Their products' quality/price ratio is generally very decent, but they also have more high-end models.
