While on vacation, I'm at a very well known dealer on the East Coast and I see what is probably my dream guitar-- a 60s Epiphone Sheraton with proper nut width and amazing condition (apparently). The seller has me totally figured out as a "blues lawyer" type even though I've played for years. I'm looking it over and there's a clear semicircle line on the neck by the nut. I didn't take pics because I needed to fly out etc and wasn't going to take on a plane. Of course the seller says "I didn't see that before. it's just a finish crack." I didn't appreciate that very much.
Still thinking about it. Can they blacklight it or otherwise to determine this in minutes? Should I have asked them to do it? Or get them to send me pics now that I'm home?
Any tips would be helpful.
