Hi all,
I am a cello and piano player.
For a new show, I need to perform some simple but expressive melodies. I was thinking taking some sax or flute lessons, even if I am afraid of the control of the mouthpiece.

What do you think of learning wind instrument with an electronic gear?

Cheers,

Transitioning from cello and piano to wind instruments is an exciting journey, but it comes with challenges, especially regarding mouthpiece control and breathwork. But don't let this discourage you! Many musicians successfully adapt to new instruments with practice and patience.

If you're considering electronic gear, like Electronic Wind Instruments (EWIs), that's a great idea! EWIs offer the feel of traditional wind instruments but with more user-friendly features. They're excellent for beginners as they allow you to practice silently, have adjustable settings for different skill levels, and require less initial breath control. This way, you can comfortably learn the fingerings and musical nuances before transitioning to a traditional saxophone or flute. So, go ahead and give it a try.

I'm a huge fan of EWIs! As a gigging musician, I love the versatility and portability they offer. I can switch between sax, flute, and clarinet sounds within seconds, and I don't have to worry about lugging around multiple instruments or dealing with reeds. The sound quality is amazing, and I've even fooled some listeners into thinking I was playing the real thing!
