I'd go for a Fender Stratocaster all the way! It's the classic choice for those genres, and you can get so many different sounds out of it. For recording, i'd just grab a good audio interface and use amp sims in my DAW. No need for a physical apm.

I own a 60s Classic Vibe strat. Very solid quality and you get those sweet strat tones on a budget. If your looking for a good single coil electric I’d say it’s a good bet.
You can also drop in a Seymour Duncan Hot Rail pickup in the bridge for some good hi gain sounds.

Eastman's E20M whith a cedar top all solid tone woods Cedar/Sapele sells around $500. A bit over budget but a great guitar especially for a starter. I have the dread version (E2D Cedar) and it's amazing

The under 500 dollar guitar market right now is absolutely incredible. Even Floyd Rose equipped at that price range.

I recently grabbed a Jackson JS Series Dinky Arch Top JS22 DKA, and it's become my go-to for everything from blues to rock to metal. The Floyd Rose licensed trem is surprisingly stable for the price, and the pickups are surprisingly versatile. It's super comfortable to play, and the satin finish looks sleek. It's worth every penny!
